Lately, I have been reminded over and over again that we
don’t have to do it alone. In
fact, we shouldn’t. Often, we are
surrounded by people who want to help, yet we don’t allow them that
privilege. Why? Do we think it
will make us look weak? Do we not want to owe a favor? Are we addicted to our
story of being the victim who is overworked? Do we think that our way is the
only way? Do we not want to share the glory? Do we feel guilty about imposing
on others? I am sure that everyone can relate to at least one of these. Which is it for you?
When we allow others to assist us, not only are we receiving
the wonderful gift of the giver, you are also letting that individual shine. When you are working as a team, you
each bring your own special talent and perspective. We are unique individuals that have amazing gifts to share that
are different from anyone else. By
allowing everyone the opportunity to bring “who they are” to the team whether
that is a friendship, relationship, sports team, work team, etc., along with understanding
what we bring to the team, we can create amazing collaboration towards an end
goal. But sometimes, we feel
threatened by someone else’s talent because we have not realized our own. Are you secure enough in “who you are”
and what you bring to the world to allow others to help you so they can shine
too?
